Graydon and Ruthanne had always planned on adopting a dog, but when Azura was born things were crazy and adding another being was not in the cards. But just after Azura's first birthday, a neighbor was walking their dog in front of the house and Azura waved and blew kisses and was generally just so excited that Mom and Dad knew it was time. Expecting the search for a dog that was good with toddlers to take months, we were surprised when the shelter said they had the perfect dog within just a few weeks! By months end, Scout was home and Mom and Dad were proved right, adding a dog was crazy.
Scout needed surgery prior to being allowed to leave the shelter, so we had a couple weeks to visit and make sure that he and Azura would play well together. They both respected each other's space and enjoyed the playtime.
Amazingly, Scout had zero problems with house training, even during the transition home. But he did struggle with the stairs and getting into the car. By six months at home, even those concerns vanished. He's now comfortable and the best boy!
Scout's favorite thing to do is sprawl across one of his beds, or the couch, or a blanket, or the floor. He won't stay still for long, getting up every five minutes to reposition somewhere within eyesight of whoever's home.
Sometimes, Mom and Dad can't get themselves together enough to put all the toys away and Scout just can't help himself. We don't blame him, the toys do look fun. As a result, he's in training to be a work dog since Graydon's work allows it. Scout's a big hit with the colleagues, getting lots of treats and belly rubs.
