Ten years ago we were just two kids with grandiose plans for conquering the world. Dead set on doing it alone, our fierce independence and competitiveness clashed. But whether it was trying to one up our love for one another or just plain stubbornness, we grew up into a singular life fused at the heart.
Not ones to back down from a challenge, we decided to formalize our undying love during the COVID-19 pandemic. Masked up, we set out to do it in a manner that was distinctly us. Costa Rica was a bucket list destination (and it still is, there's so much we didn't get to see!) with US recognized marriages and we saw an opportunity not to be missed.
One of us volunteered our best friends Matt and Malori to be witnesses. And with no other choice they agreed to travel 3,500 miles, during a pandemic, to spend 2 days with us and sign a piece of paper.
Life is unpredictable. Not everything is in our control. But as long as we're with the right people, we can handle anything. -Captain Holt
Somehow both not far from the capital city of San Jose and buried in the mountains of Vara Blanca is La Paz Waterfall Gardens Nature Park and The Peace Lodge.
The park features well maintained hiking trails, wildlife exhibits, and of course, the waterfalls. We thought this blend of comfort, remoteness, power, and constancy would be an ideal backdrop for starting the next chapter in our adventure.
A gazebo overlooks the second waterfall, Magia Blanca, which the park outfitted with a lovely assortment of vibrant floras. The cascade of water reminded us to announce our love at the top of our lungs!
